For me, its golds, as previously mentioned, most are dyeable, and easy to mod to your needs. Then again, also mentioned the stats on some greens can't be replicated, like the Rose Focus and a few from Sorrow's Furnace.

Personally, my favorite sword only comes as a blue from collectors, the Etched Sword. I'd love to see it in a gold or green, but that's going OT.

There are two problems with green items:

First, they are a fixed deal. You cannot modify them to suit your needs, they always have the same specific skin and similar. Compare to a gold item which can be modded to suit the needs of your character.

Second, while green items are rarer than gold items, USEFUL gold items are rarer than greens. Gold drops come with various required attributes and this vastly affects both their usefulness and value. For example, while a focus item requiring 9 in channeling magic would be valuable as it would be possible to modify it as a part of a 40/40 set, a focus requiring 13 in inspiration magic (which mesmers use as a third attribute and don't put many attribute points in) would be hardly of any use.

Greens can't be modded and usually have mediocre stats.
Not customizing a weapon that is intended to be used for damage is plain silly.

Green has one benefit and that is the green shields that have +10AL v. Demons. For DoA of course.

I always laugh when I see high-end weapons on warriors/rangers and i know they aren't customized.

you'd be wrong to make such statements, little one

Yeah I customize weapons on my warriors and sins. I recently gave in and customized the silverwing on my ranger but I can understand if people don't because I mostly used the ranger for PvP and poisonspreading/interrupts was the main job he had. The easy solution is to buy rare weapons only for caster characters

Oh, and sorry if this was already mentioned.

But besides that, greens dont provide any other benefit compared to golds.
Yes, but even those tiny few non-replicable items mostly have stats that you still wouldn't want in the first place. The only exception I can think of is Konrru' Fervor which makes an ideal high set swap for a minion master build.

My OP stated one that is an exception. Shen's Censure is the perfect Smiter offhand for 600/Smiter builds like for DTSC

Greens are nice for heroes.

For characters I use golds. I still miss a weapon upgrade trader, though.

+10 AL vs. Demons can also drop in Cantha. It's much easier to obtain the green shield(s) with that mod, however.

Greens are crap except~ the ogre slaying knife (Just because) and the Yakslapper (This one just rules). My next conquest will be to finish the game with the oger slayer knife just for fun...

Actually GW IS a Grinding Game...it just happens to be a "Grind to be pretty/show off your e-peen" instead of a "Grind to get max gear" game.

Grind? Lol, no. It's optional, you don't need to grind as you do in other games where you have to grind through some part to get to another, or for xp/levels. And when you do decide to grind for a title or something else, you can switch between different grinds, without one requiring one bore to unlock another.

I know it's hip to hate on greens but I'm one of those crazy players who literally plays 20 different toons. I also like to experiment with various hero combinations so the ability to have a nice green weapon to dump into the hands of all those heroes is pretty convenient. I'm also big on blue collector's stuff (especially when you start realizing that a lot of VERY common drops will net you a nice 20/20 focus. No free 20/20 blue wands though...). And honestly, I rather enjoy taking a break and farming a green now and then. I think it's kind of fun.

Yeah, now that you mention it. For some reason I had RoJ in my head when pondering if it was a good smiting offhand, so I was thinking 20/20 would be better. But I can see how 20%/+1 Smite might be better than 20 HCT for 600/smite.

Grinding games are where grinding is mandatory for play. If you haven't grinded enough gear you can't enter XXX dungeon.

Grinding for vanity items is a completely different idea.
